China’s Imperial Heritage

Discover the pure essence of tea from the historic heart of tea culture. Sourced from the mist-covered peaks of Hangzhou, China—the legendary home of Dragon Well tea—this organic matcha thrives in an environment defined by mineral-rich soil and perfect natural shade.

Grown in certified organic gardens, the tea leaves are shaded before harvest to boost chlorophyll and amino acid levels. The result is a vibrant, emerald-green powder, stone-ground to a silky fineness that reflects centuries of horticultural mastery.

Flavor Profile

  • The Texture: Incredibly smooth and creamy with a full-bodied mouthfeel.

  • The Aroma: Fresh, grassy notes intertwined with a delicate hint of toasted seaweed (nori).

  • The Taste: A sophisticated balance of refreshing vegetal bitterness and a deep, savory umami sweetness, finishing with a crisp, clean aftertaste.

Why Hangzhou Matcha?

While matcha is often associated with Japan, its roots trace back to the Tang and Song Dynasties of China. Hangzhou remains a global sanctuary for tea lovers. Our organic commitment ensures that no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers touch the leaves, preserving the antioxidant integrity and the true "spirit" of the tea.

Brewing Suggestion:

Sift 1 tsp (2g) into a bowl, add 75ml of hot water (approx. 80°C), and whisk vigorously in a "W" motion until a thick, frothy foam forms. Perfect for traditional tea preparation, lattes, or high-end baking.

Storage

We recommend storing one 30-gram bag at room temperature for daily use in the screw top can or resealable bag, and the remaining in your freezer for long-term storage if you buy more than one at once.

NOTE: For freezer storage, double-seal in a plastic ziplock bag and tupperware container for maximum freshness and to avoid other food smells from affecting the matcha. Always allow the bag to sit for 24-hours before unsealing to acclimate to room temperature. This avoids condensation from damaging the matcha powder.
